practices and community outreach.
“I met Andrea during our study at the Reynolds School of Journalism, where we had the
opportunity to attend the National Association of Hispanic Journalists conference in 2022.
She not only supported us throughout the trip but has continued to be a valuable mentor
and resource since then. Since starting my role as a Telemundo reporter in January 2024,
Andrea has been consistently proactive by keeping me informed about relevant events to
cover for our newscast. Her dedication to serving the Latino community is truly
commendable. Andrea is not just a talented journalist but also a supportive colleague
who genuinely cares about the impact of her work.”
Nancy Vazquez, Telemundo Reporter
“Andrea is a big Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion advocate. She is also committed to the international community by educating her audience about different
cultures and stereotypes, bringing everyone to the same page with her intercultural storytelling.
She participated in various events organized by NNIC (Northern Nevada International Center), such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship Networking
Dinner and Fundraising Gala. Andrea brought up her bright personality and made those events unforgettable for our participants.
In 2023, she did an Instagram takeover to promote a Belarusian Documentary film, "Courage," and she did it with a strong dedication and understanding of
the topic. It was fabulous. Her storytelling ability is incredible.
I would recommend Andrea to anyone seeking a bright and talented storyteller and communication specialist!”

Testimonials
“Andrea is a mentor, exceptional communicator, and knows how to get the job done. I met Andrea at the University of Nevada, Reno Honors
College, when we were both graduate assistants. During our time working together, I was inspired by her ability to network, lead, and seamlessly
adapt to changing environments. She taught me more about social media marketing, introduced me to PR strategies, and trained me in using
digital tools like Sprout Social and Canva. We worked together on a number of event marketing and social media marketing campaigns. One
notable event she and I worked on marketing together was an Undergraduate Research symposium called Wolf Pack Discoveries. Andrea helped
make the campaign process smooth by taking the initiative on certain tasks, developing eye-catching visuals like flyers and social media graphics,
and interviewing student presenters. She is someone you want on your team! Andrea is committed to ensuring inclusivity in her work as a
journalist, sharing her knowledge, and producing well-crafted content. I’m so grateful to have worked alongside her and learned from her!”
Madeline Zunino, Assistant Director for Marketing and Recruitment, Office of Undergraduate Fellowships, Honors College
Communications Assistant-Coordinator
“Andrea has helped with Graduate Student Association Social Media
Accounts since 2022 as a way to help increase subscribers and
engagement. For example, she connected us with local TV stations to do
segments about upcoming events to help increase local donor
involvement to support graduate student scholarships. She has done
takeovers for the following events: GSA Unity in Diversity, Poster
Symposium, Spring Awards, and more. She was an integral part of our
social media presence. Andrea is also a teacher who shows GSA staff
members how to be successful in social media and create content that is
directed at our target audience. She is also very detail-oriented in
planning events and writing scripts for GSA Social Media Project Videos.”
Allison Ferguson, Marketing and Program Coordinator
“Andrea and I worked together on the Marketing and Communications team for Research
and Innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno. She helped me with Microsoft Office,
Canva, and social media posts and provided me with constructive criticism on my writing.
In addition, she taught me how to use equipment to better record videos. She taught me
how to make content more accessible, shared notes from trainings she participated in,
and helped with school assignments and class enrollment. It was always nice to have her
around the office. She was very kind, entertaining, and patient. She was constantly
following the news and trends. I’m glad I had the opportunity to work with her and learn
from her!”
Stephanie Navarro Rocha, journalism undergraduate student
“I have worked under Ms. Subitoni as well as aside to her. During my time working
for her during an internship, she was very decisive and direct about what she
wanted done. She was always calm and collected with any situation and always
knew how ton steer us in the direction she wanted. Honestly one of the few I've
had the pleasure of working under who knew the gameplan and what she was
asking for.
Working at her side on projects and events, she always had the initiative to bring
something to the table every time. Throughout the process, she will always make
sure to ask the right questions and understand why things are done a certain way
and the importance of it.
I believe she will be a valuable asset on any project. She is highly capable of
working through any problem or task at the highest quality for the job at hand. She
makes up for what she may lack in certain areas with her attitude and work ethic."
Jaime Gonzalez-Aguirre, Public Relations Specialist
“Andrea has been nothing short of amazing and a huge impact on my life.
I first met Andrea when she was covering events at my Graduate
Assistantship with the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Innevation
Center (e.g., Reno StartUp Week). As the Media at these events Andrea
taught my team best practices in social media, including everything from
accessibility practices, ethics, and marketing strategies and programs to
how to create engaging content. In working with Andrea, she
immediately offered her vast knowledge, skills, and network to help me
with the marketing for my personal project outside of graduate school,
“Beyond the Shell: A Film on the Culture and Ecology of a Scarce Marine
Resource.” Andrea met with me on multiple occasions to elevate my
social media marketing strategies, spearheaded events (e.g., film
screenings and panels), coordinated meetings with sponsors for events,
coordinated organizations to table and work events, as well as
coordinated an interview with the local news station (Kolo Channel 8) to
invite the local community to these events. Andrea also introduced me to
the local UNR Indigenous Relations Office, as their office is relevant to the
topic my film covers, and the Hitchcock Project at UNR, which helps
spread awareness about science communication and local students'
research projects. The Hitchcock Project interviewed me and wrote a
newsletter about my project following this meeting that Andrea
coordinated. In working with Andrea, I found she had strong
communication skills and her love for connecting people. On top of
teaching me how to develop engaging science content, Andrea has been
crucial in getting my film out for the world to view. My film is now getting
ready to air on KVIE PBS, and I know this, amongst many other film
screenings, was made possible through the knowledge, skills, and
network Andrea was kind enough to share with me. Her abilities never
cease to amaze me, and I am grateful to have had the chance to work
with her and be mentored by her. I would recommend her time and time
again.”
Alexandria Firenzi, Director and Producer The Beyond the Shell
Film
“I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Andrea for over a year. She
displays the amazing qualities that you want in a team member, employee, and
leader. I’ve found Andrea to be a reflective individual who understands the
commitment required to be a successful professional. She has displayed an
amazing ability to quickly build relationships with students and faculty. However, it
is not just simply building these relationships that set her apart from her, but also
the massive effort and responsibility that she puts into her work.
Andrea is a natural-born leader, and she takes it upon herself to have
conversations and address the concerns of the entire group. Andrea is a hard
worker and an amazing colleague.”
Osvaldo Jimenez-Estupinan, Director of Latinx/Hispanic Community
Relations
“Andréa is one of the most dedicated, professional, and selfless individuals I
have ever met. She has been an essential cornerstone in helping our graduate
organization build its brand. Her designs are unique, eye-catching, immensely
effective, and with accessibility in mind. Our media following has tripled since
she started coaching us on how to brand ourselves across our platforms! We
turned to her for every project, whether big or small and her care and support
for graduate students at the University of Nevada, Reno, was unmeasurable.
She would often respond with a helping hand in the middle of the night when
we were just days away from our biggest events like the GSA Poster
Symposium, Spring Award Ceremony, Unity in Diversity, Champagne Toast, and
the like. We could not be more grateful because we saw record numbers in
attendance at those events because of her creativity and ingenuity in design &
messaging! She did all of this out of the kindness of her heart since we did not
have the budget to pay her for her incredible work (!). Yet Andréa would
selflessly go above and beyond for us again and again. Because of her
professionalism and connections, we were featured on multiple news
platforms, including KOLO 8, Telemundo Reno, NevadaTODAY, and many
others. She even secured the attendance of the Washoe County Commissioner
and the City of Reno Government Administration, Equity & Community
Relations at our 2024 Unity in Diversity Fundraising event! And Andréa was
right there with us when we saw the biggest win in GSA history, when she
played a pivotal role in helping graduate students secure $3.6M for graduate
education at UNR Day at the Legislature by broadcasting essential updates via
an Instagram Takeover. But her professional qualities aside, Andréa is a
genuine and caring person, willing to give the jacket off her back for someone
less fortunate! She was the guiding light for many international students at
UNR and served as an essential resource for them on our WhatsApp group
throughout her years with us. I was truly honored to work with Andréa, and I
would highly recommend her services to others. I can guarantee that you will
be lucky to have worked with her, as are we <3."
Taissa Lytchenko, Graduate Student Association Vice President 2021-

"I first met Andrea Subitoni Antonio when she took some of the disability-diversity
trainings offered through my department, the Disability Resource Center. She was a keen
and quick learner who displayed great interest in the humanities. After that we became
friends on campus and she began to assist me with the creation of my new program, a
Minor in American Sign Language. She was able to arrange television interviews with local
stations and supported my students and I during that process. She also created a delightful
Instagram Reel for ASL day to spread awareness about the Deaf Community, their
beautiful language and how our university supports them. Andrea was a solid ally for me
during her time on our campus, always friendly and helpful. I’m sure that wherever her
professional life takes her, those she works with will benefit."
Andrea Juillerat-Olvera, American Sign Language Program Advisor/Instructor -
Disability Diversity Training Coordinator
“I met Andrea when I arrived in Reno in 2022. As an international grad
student, she was an incredible help, offering advice on my academic path
and connecting me with important people. Andrea knew my area of interest
—science communications and environmental reporting—and she invited
me to relevant events, which ultimately led to some stories being published
in the Hitchcock Project. She excels in communications and is a great public
relations professional, in addition to being extremely friendly.”
